Ieva Rozentāle Recommends Summer Concerts – Nature or Church Coolness
The chair of the jury for the Latvian Public Media award 'Kilograms of Culture' invites to enjoy music outdoors or in the coolness of ancient walls.

“Out of the city, away from dust and smoke, not only in spring as Veidenbaums urged, but in the middle of summer itself. There, in the open air, are the most beautiful moments for enjoying music – to feel the breath of grass, the wind, the hot sun and the storm element. Or perhaps to feel a little calmer, to sink into the depths of sounds in the coolness of ancient walls?” – thus Ieva Rozentāle, chair of the jury of the Latvian Public Media award “Kilograms of Culture”, calls on people to go and enjoy musical events.
She highlights two main ways to enjoy music in summer: concerts in nature, where attendees can feel the breath of grass, wind, sun and even storms, and concerts in churches, where the coolness of ancient walls helps to immerse deeper into the sounds. Rozentāle emphasizes that even in midsummer it is worth going outside the city, away from everyday hustle, to fully experience the fusion of music and nature. Her invitation is for everyone looking for a special musical experience in the summer months – whether under the open sky or under church vaults.
