iGarden Swim Jet X Pro 10 Review: An Endless Pool for Home Use

Wired tested the iGarden Swim Jet X Pro 10, a portable jet system that turns any pool into an endless swimming pool. The battery-powered device offers multiple power modes, but real-world runtime is much shorter than advertised.

The iGarden Swim Jet X Pro 10 is a two-piece device: a water jet unit and a large battery pack. Three battery sizes are available: 60 Ah (X Pro 10), 30 Ah, and 15 Ah. The top model weighs 26 pounds and theoretically runs up to 10 hours on the lowest setting. The units connect via a thick cable that wraps around the jet handle for storage. A metal tethering cable is included but proved impractical in testing.

Setup is straightforward: adjust the jet height in the water. Placing the top edge 2–4 inches below the surface creates a smooth current for lap swimming; at or above the waterline, it produces a splashy spray for play. The height adjustment mechanism is a bit crude but works.

Controls are on the battery pack: four standard power levels, a turbo mode (5 minutes), and a “PF” mode that simulates open water with varying flow. A timer can shut off the jet after 15 to 90 minutes. An optional app connects via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for more intuitive control.

Testing focused on the below-water swimming mode. Power level 3 provided the perfect resistance for vigorous swimming. Current strength drops with distance: too strong near the wall, negligible beyond 30 feet. The sweet spot is 5–10 feet away, where the swimmer stays in place. To avoid monotony, the tester's wife swam back and forth, letting the current push her to the far wall before swimming back.

Battery life varies greatly with power. At level 3, the system lasted only 2 hours; higher levels drain even faster. The workout is legitimate – swimming against the current is hard work. According to the tester's wife, a full Swim Jet session is about 80% as effective as a lap lane workout, because the body doesn't have to move through space. However, one can swim longer, at a higher power, or closer to the jet to close the gap.
