Estonia to auction off former Tallinn Music High School buildings in Nõmme
State Real Estate Ltd. has launched an online auction for the former Tallinn Music High School complex in Tallinn's Nõmme district, with a starting price of €6.09 million. The school operated there from 1961 to 2022.
Estonia's state-owned real estate company State Real Estate Ltd. (RKAS) has opened a public online auction for properties in Tallinn's Nõmme district that once housed Tallinn Music High School, which operated there from 1961 to 2022. The starting price for the portfolio is €6.09 million.
The properties up for sale sit in the block between Vabaduse puiestee and J. V. Jannseni tänav, with a combined area of 33,127 square meters. RKAS describes the site as one of the largest and greenest contiguous development areas in the district.
No detailed spatial plan currently applies to the land. Under the broader Nõmme district comprehensive plan, the properties at J. V. Jannseni tänav 38 and 38a / Vabaduse puiestee 130 fall within a mixed-use zone that permits residential and commercial development, or a combination of both. The property at Vabaduse puiestee 130a lies in a zone designated for public and social facilities, making it best suited to educational, civic or community use.
Interested bidders can submit offers through RKAS' official sales platform, which also provides detailed participation terms, documentation and drawings. The auction closes on October 22.
School merged into MUBA and relocated downtown
The Nõmme complex has stood empty since summer 2022, when Tallinn Music High School ceased operating there after more than sixty years.
On September 1, 2022, Tallinn Music High School, the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School and Tallinn Ballet School were merged into a new state institution, the Tallinn School of Music and Ballet (MUBA). The merged school began holding classes in a newly built facility on Pärnu maantee in central Tallinn.
