Construction costs rise in Estonia in Q2, driven by higher material prices
Estonia's construction price index increased by 1.9% in Q2 2026 compared to the previous quarter, and by 3.1% year-on-year, with material costs accounting for about 76% of the rise.
According to data released by Statistics Estonia on July 22, the construction price index rose by 1.9% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the first quarter, and by 3.1% compared to the same period in 2025.
The main driver was the increase in the cost of building materials, which rose by 3.9% over the year and accounted for about 76% of the total increase in the construction index. Costs for construction machinery increased by 1.8%, and labor costs rose by 1.9%.
Lead analyst Jülo Paulus of Statistics Estonia said in a press release that the price changes were influenced by disruptions in the supply of construction materials and energy due to instability on international trade routes.
The price index for repair and renovation work rose by 2.4% in the second quarter compared to the beginning of the year, and by 3.1% compared to the second quarter of 2025.
