Estonia facilitates major armored vehicle deal for Moldova via EU funds
Estonia's Center for Defense Investments (RKIK) has signed a contract with Moldova and Canadian company Roshel for the supply of over 100 tactical armored personnel carriers, funded by the European Peace Facility.

The Estonian Center for Defense Investments (RKIK), acting as the implementing agency for the European Peace Facility (EPF), has inked a deal worth €50 million with Moldova's Ministry of Defense and Canada's Roshel. The contract, fully financed by the EPF, involves the procurement of more than 100 tactical armored vehicles, with deliveries expected by May 2027.
Elmar Vaher, Director General of RKIK, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to international security while enhancing Estonia's own procurement capabilities. He noted that this project is one of the largest assistance efforts for Moldova, a country bordering Ukraine and Romania. It will significantly boost Moldova's forces, improving their mobility and combat readiness to an entirely new level. Vaher emphasized that the impact extends beyond Moldova, representing an investment in Europe's overall security.
Roman Shimonov, CEO of Roshel, described the order as a contribution to Moldova's long-term security and resilience. He stated that as a Canadian company, they are proud to support partners in enhancing operational readiness when needed most.
Since 2022, RKIK has been the implementer of EPF assistance packages for Moldova, previously procuring logistics, mobility, command and control, and communications and surveillance systems.
