The Estonian Basketball Union (EBU) Secretary General Gerd Kiili confirmed on Sunday to the sports editorial team that the organization is prepared to help player Kerr Kriisa if he or his relatives seek support. Kriisa, who recently signed a contract with the University of Tartu team, faces multiple charges in the USA, including conspiracy to commit fraud, fraud, sports bribery, and facilitating violations of law. According to Kiili, the basketball authorities have no additional information beyond what is already available in the media, and assessing the situation without official data is difficult. "If a person has problems and needs help, we are ready to provide it, but he must ask for it himself. We are always available, but so far there has been no such request," Kiili said. He added that the EBU cooperates with FIBA and has undergone training on match manipulation, noting that modern risks in this area have increased significantly. "Now bets are placed not only on the outcome of the game but also on every action on the court. Therefore, absolute intolerance for any violations is necessary," he noted. Earlier, it was reported that the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) detained Estonian basketball player Kerr Kriisa, who is suspected of participating in a fraudulent scheme. In the new season, the 25-year-old player was supposed to return to his homeland and start playing for the University of Tartu team.
