Estonia to face Hungary away in World Cup qualifying clash

On Thursday, August 27, Estonia's national basketball team will travel to face Hungary in a FIBA World Cup qualifying match. The live broadcast, commentated in Estonian, will begin at 18:45 and can be watched on ETV2 and the Rus.ERR portal.

Before the match

Both teams enter the decisive qualifying stage with identical records of three wins and three losses. Estonia topped Group H, where all four teams finished with the same number of wins and losses.

Estonia beat Slovenia twice and defeated Sweden once away from home. At home, however, Heiko Rannula's side lost to both the Czech Republic and Sweden, and in the last round they fell to the Czechs away by a narrow margin.

Hungary opened Group G with wins over Finland at home and Belgium away. They then lost twice to group favorites France, both at home and away. Hungary also lost away to Finland but closed out the group stage with a home win over Belgium.

Head-to-head history

Estonia and Hungary have not met in official matches for a long time. However, three years ago the two teams played two friendly matches in summer, both of which Estonia won convincingly — 90:73 and 85:71.
