Estonia's economy grew by 2.2% in the third quarter of 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier. Against the second quarter, growth was 0.6%, according to a preliminary estimate from the Statistics Department, the country's official statistics agency.

The agency's analysts say several economic indicators point to a broad strengthening of the economy.

How the estimate is built

The flash estimate is based on modelling that uses economic indicators already available. These include data on trade, transport and manufacturing, tax returns, energy production figures and price statistics.

The Statistics Department explains that such an estimate offers an early picture of the state of the economy before the full data are released. At the same time, it may not account for individual large transactions, which in Estonia's small economy can noticeably affect overall figures.

The flash estimate also differs methodologically from the official calculation of gross domestic product (GDP), which takes all economic transactions into account.

When final data will come

The Statistics Department will publish the final GDP data for Estonia for the third quarter on 30 November.
