Estonian golfer Kristella Sikk wins European U16 girls' golf title
Young Estonian golfer Kristella Sikk has become the first Estonian to win an individual European golf championship gold, claiming the U16 girls' title in Spain.

Estonian golfer Kristella Sikk has made history by becoming the first Estonian to win an individual European golf championship gold. She claimed the title at the European Under 16 Girls' Championship held in Spain.
Sikk finished the tournament as the only competitor under par, with a total score of three under par. Over three rounds, she carded scores of 69, 71, and 73. Her performance included 21 birdies, the most of any player in both the boys' and girls' competitions, including nine birdies in the second round alone. Despite a challenging quadruple-bogey eight on the second day after her ball got stuck in a bunker, Sikk's birdie count compensated for the mistakes.
"I'm very grateful for the experience. The tournament was highly competitive, and I got to test myself against strong opponents," Sikk said. She thanked her teammates Kris and Konrad for caddying and coach Hanna-Maria Tammo for guidance on staying cool and hydrated in the warm Spanish weather.
Second place went to Czech Republic's Anna Gejdošová at one over par, while Spain's Rut Diaz Garcia finished third at two over.
In the girls' event, another Estonian, Nora Marleen Animägi, finished tied for 43rd with rounds of 91, 78, and 78 in her debut. Among the boys, 13-year-old Kris Kuusk was the best-placed Estonian, finishing tied for 35th with rounds of 77, 74, and 80. Karl Konrad Ranna tied for 49th with rounds of 81, 81, and 80.
Estonia finished 16th overall as a team, ahead of Scotland, the birthplace of golf, as well as neighboring Finland and golfing nations like Portugal and Ireland. France won the team competition, followed by Spain and Germany.
Sikk's victory marks a milestone for Estonian golf, adding to the country's previous sole individual medal – a silver by Mattias Varjun at the European Mid-Amateur Championship last year.
