Estonian cinemas sell 1.26 million tickets in first half of 2026
Estonian cinemas saw a 0.7% increase in attendance and a 6.7% rise in box office revenue to €9.5 million in the first six months of 2026.

Attendance and Revenue Growth
Estonian cinemas welcomed 1,259,717 visitors in the first half of 2026, a 0.7% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Box office revenue rose by 6.7% to €9.5 million, approximately €597,000 more than the previous year.
Ticket Prices and Film Selection
The average ticket price increased from €7.11 to €7.54 year-over-year. A total of 274 films were screened during the period, 17 more than a year earlier. The number of new film releases remained nearly unchanged: 148 in 2026 versus 149 in 2025.
Success of Estonian Films
The share of Estonian films in total box office revenue grew from 20% to 22.13%, despite only 14 new Estonian films being released (compared to 22 in 2025). This indicates that Estonian films attracted more viewers per release.
Top Performing Films
The top three box office hits included two Estonian films: "Perfect Strangers" (102,513 viewers) and "Our Erika" (70,157 viewers).
