Estonian Academy of Arts students open 'haunted' exhibition inspired by library basement archive
Graphic design students at the Estonian Academy of Arts have opened an exhibition called "Beyond the Veil" in Tallinn, inspired by an archive in the library basement. It runs until December 24.

Graphic design students at the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) opened an exhibition titled "Beyond the Veil" on Friday in Tallinn. It is on show at the university's Billboard Gallery on Kotzebue tänav until December 24.
The exhibition is based on an archive kept in the basement of the academy's library. According to a press release, the archive is home to ghosts and restless spirits who are asking to be released. The students used it as a starting point to create the show for the gallery. The project also resulted in a publication and ended with an exorcism. The press release notes that, as a result, all working materials were considered haunted and everything felt spooky.
The exhibition's curator, Andrew Kuus-Hill, described how it was made: the students enchanted 250 A3-sized prints, pasted them onto the billboard and, together with the phantoms, performed an exorcism to set them free. Sorcerer hats will be available on site for visitors.
The EKA Billboard Gallery is an exhibition space of the academy, located on Kotzebue tänav in the Estonian capital. The show is a student project that draws its material from the university's own archive.
