Estonian PM Thanks Outgoing Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginiens After Resignation
Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal expressed gratitude to Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginiens following her resignation on June 23, emphasizing the importance of bilateral cooperation and regional security.

Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal on Tuesday, June 23, thanked outgoing Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginiens for her cooperation and contributions to bilateral relations. The statement came shortly after Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda signed a decree accepting Ruginiens' resignation. Simultaneously, the president tasked her with leading a temporary cabinet until a new government is formed.
According to procedure, the Lithuanian president must present a candidate for prime minister to the Seimas within 15 days. Once the parliament approves the nominee, a new government will be constituted.
In his message, Michal expressed gratitude for Ruginiens' trust, cooperation, and commitment. "Together we worked to make the region safer, stronger, and better connected. In difficult times, reliable allies and partners matter most. Estonia and Lithuania are strongest when we act together," he stated.
Ruginiens had led the Lithuanian government since August of the previous year. Her cabinet resigned amid political shifts and the formation of a new ruling coalition.
The exchange highlights the close ties between the Baltic states, with Estonia's premier acknowledging the partnership's significance for regional security and cooperation.
