Estonian presidential office head to earn 8,000 euros a month
Paavo Nõgene, the new director of Estonia's presidential office, will earn 8,000 euros a month, almost 2,000 euros more than his predecessor. New President Ülle Madise set the pay.

Estonia's new head of the presidential office, Paavo Nõgene, will be paid 8,000 euros a month, nearly 2,000 euros more than his predecessor, Krista Sibo. The salary was set by an order from President Ülle Madise, who took office on 12 October.
The previous salary
Sibo led the office under Madise's predecessor as president, Alar Karis. Since January this year she had earned 6,010 euros a month. The gap between the two salaries is therefore about 1,990 euros monthly.
Dismissal from the post
A day before the pay level became known, Madise signed an order releasing Sibo from her position as director of the presidential office. The leadership of the office has thus changed together with the head of state.
The source only gives the salary figures and the personnel change. It does not mention where Nõgene worked before, what tasks the office will take on next, or why the new director's pay was set higher than that of the previous one.
The decisions followed one another within a very short time after Madise assumed office: first the previous director was released, and then the salary of her successor was fixed.
