Estonian President Alar Karis congratulated French President Emmanuel Macron and the people of France on Bastille Day, emphasizing strong allied ties and shared democratic values.

Estonian President Alar Karis has sent congratulations to French President Emmanuel Macron and the French people on the occasion of Bastille Day, the national holiday celebrated on July 14.
In a message posted on social media, Karis highlighted the shared values that unite Estonia and France: freedom, democracy, and human rights. "As close NATO allies and European Union partners, we stand together to safeguard European security, support Ukraine, and defend the rules-based international order," he wrote.
Karis concluded: "Happy Bastille Day to President Emmanuel Macron and the people of France. Vive la France!"
Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, a pivotal event that marked the beginning of the French Revolution.
