Estonia's Veterinary and Food Board (VFB) has reported the detection of salmonella in "Reeva" brand instant noodles manufactured in Ukraine. The contamination was found in chicken-flavored noodles in 60-gram packages with an expiry date of June 17, 2027, and in beef-flavored noodles in 60-gram packages with an expiry date of April 18, 2027.
Latvia's Food and Veterinary Service (PVD) has responded promptly, launching inspections at wholesale companies that distribute "Reeva" products in Latvia and Estonia. Sales of the affected batches have been halted. To further assess the situation, the PVD has collected samples of various "Reeva" noodle types and sent them for laboratory analysis. So far, no salmonella has been found in the tested samples.
The PVD advises consumers to always read the product label and follow the manufacturer's instructions for preparation. In this case, the noodles should be poured with boiling water, as salmonella and other contaminants are destroyed by high temperatures – salmonella dies within less than a minute when exposed to boiling water.
