Estonia turns back 23 foreigners at Russian border over the weekend
Estonian border guards refused entry to 23 foreign nationals arriving from Russia over the weekend, mostly due to missing documents. Most cases were recorded at southeastern crossing points and in Narva.
Estonian border guards denied entry to 23 foreign nationals attempting to cross into the country from Russia over the past weekend.
Southern crossings
At checkpoints on Estonia's southeastern border, entry was refused to one Russian citizen and 13 citizens of Moldova. Authorities said these individuals either lacked the documents required for travel or did not meet other entry requirements. All were turned back at the border.
Narva crossing
At the Narva border crossing, five Ukrainian citizens, two Russian citizens, one Moldovan citizen and one Kazakh citizen were not allowed into Estonia, according to the Ida Prefecture.
In these cases as well, the reasons for refusal included a lack of necessary documents, as well as instances where authorities determined a person could pose a threat to public order.
