Estonian Women's Choir Brings Home Singapore Festival Win
Tallinn's women's choir Kevad took first place in its category at the Singapore International Choral Festival, earning a gold award.
The Tallinn women's choir Kevad has achieved a major success at the Singapore International Choral Festival (SICF), winning first place in its category and receiving a gold award in the 10th edition of the competition. The 27-member choir is led by conductor Õnne-Ann Roosvee.
The choir performed works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Tadeja Vulc, and Estonian composer Veljo Tormis, including selections from his "Autumn Landscapes" suite. Roosvee noted that Asian competitions have been particularly successful for Kevad, as the choir previously won a choral competition in South Korea three years ago.
"I am extremely proud of our singers," she said. "This was the result of a great deal of teamwork, and we're incredibly happy."
The festival took place from July 16 to 20, featuring 73 choirs from 11 countries. Kevad was named Estonia's women's choir of the year in 2020 and will celebrate its 20th anniversary this September.
Based in Nõmme, the choir brings together singers aged 18 to 63, united by a shared passion for choral music, community involvement, and continuous growth.
