Estonia's U-21 football team loses again to Faroe Islands
Estonia's U-21 national football team fell 1:2 to the Faroe Islands in a European Championship qualifier in Pärnu, leaving Estonia last in its qualifying group.
On Friday, September 25, Estonia's under-21 national football team lost 1:2 to the Faroe Islands in a European Championship qualifying match at the Seaside Stadium in Pärnu.
The visitors took the lead in the 54th minute after an Estonian mistake while playing the ball out from their own goal area, with Aron Benjaminsen scoring. A few minutes later he added a second goal following an individual run.
The hosts managed to narrow the gap in the 80th minute, when Tristan Paio converted a penalty awarded for a foul against Taavi Jurisoo.
In June last year, Estonia also lost to the Faroe Islands by the same 1:2 scoreline in an away match.
Group standings
After eight matches, Estonia sits last in its qualifying group, having collected two points from two draws and six losses. The Faroe Islands are third with 12 points.
Estonia's next match will take place on September 29 in Pärnu against group leaders France, who have 17 points. In October 2025, France thrashed Estonia 6:1 on home soil.
