Ilze Mazpane's Performance in Pāvilosta: 101 Glasses as a Measure of Time and Witness
On July 24, artist Ilze Mazpane will present her performance '101' in Pāvilosta, where 101 glasses will serve as a measure of time, material, and witness, also using local natural materials transformed into syrup.

On the evening of July 24, the PAiR residency in Pāvilosta will host a performance by artist Ilze Mazpane titled '101'. In it, 101 glasses will become a measure of time, a material, and a witness. The artist plans to use natural materials collected in Pāvilosta, which have been turned into a colorful syrup. Through presence, repetition, and relationships with the environment, the performance invites the viewer to simply be and observe how their own experience of time changes. This approach encourages the audience to become active participants, witnessing time become tangible. The duration of the performance is unpredictable – it will continue until the right moment arrives for it to end, emphasizing natural rhythm and spontaneity. This work is part of the PAiR residency program, which provides artists with a platform for creative exploration in Pāvilosta.
