Three years ago, when Kuldīga's old town was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, art historian Imants Lancmanis delivered an extensive lecture sharing his knowledge of the Duchy of Courland's court and Kuldīga Castle. That three-hour lecture has now been compiled and published as a book.

The book allows readers to learn about the nature of the Courland dukes' court and just how opulent the ducal castles once were. The publication is based directly on the content of Lancmanis's lecture, making the art historian's knowledge accessible to a wider audience even after the original event has passed.

The inclusion of Kuldīga's old town on the UNESCO World Heritage List marked a significant moment in Latvia's cultural history, and the new book serves as an additional resource for those wishing to gain a deeper understanding of the city's historical significance and its ducal heritage.
