A serious road accident occurred on Sunday evening, 24 August, around 8 p.m. in Riga's Imanta district, on Kurzeme Avenue near building No. 124. A motorcyclist struck two women and their dog while they were crossing the street on a pedestrian crossing.

The dog died at the scene. Rihards, whose mother and sister were among the injured, shared details of the incident on social media.

What the victims say happened

According to Rihards' mother, she waited at the crossing for an approaching vehicle to stop before starting to cross the street. Moments after the women began crossing, she suddenly found herself on the ground. Based on information available to the family, the motorcyclist, for reasons still unknown, drove around or overtook a car that had already stopped before the pedestrian crossing.

The mother sustained bruises and cuts requiring stitches, along with severe shock. The sister suffered a serious head injury with a wound that also required stitches.

Family appeals for witnesses

Rihards is asking anyone who was near the accident site on Sunday evening and might have information about what happened to come forward — particularly drivers whose cars had dashcams running, as such footage could have captured the moment of the collision or events just before it.

The family is also requesting that anyone with photos or video from the scene get in touch. Rihards can be contacted by phone or WhatsApp, and materials can also be sent to the email address he provided.
