"Are you impotent? Can you only brag with a weapon in war?" How war affects Ukrainian families
During the full-scale war, domestic violence cases in Ukraine have sharply increased. Social worker Irina Mironova states that perpetrators include not only soldiers returning from the front but also diplomats and prosecutors, and increasingly men in uniform become victims.

Since Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine has seen a dramatic rise in domestic violence cases. Irina Mironova, a social worker and volunteer specializing in domestic violence, works with the Kryvyi Rih mobile brigade that responds to calls alongside the police.
Expanding circle of perpetrators
Mironova notes that perpetrators now include not only soldiers returning from the front but also diplomats and prosecutors. Domestic violence is no longer solely a women's issue – increasingly, men in uniform are also becoming victims.
Support mechanisms
The mobile brigade provides immediate assistance, including legal consultations and psychological support. Additionally, specialized centers operate in Ukraine with separate rooms for women, mothers with children, and men.
