Index Ventures, a venture capital firm with a three-decade history, announced on Friday that it has raised $2 billion in fresh capital across three investment vehicles. The funding includes $400 million for a new seed-stage fund and $900 million for a venture fund. Additionally, $700 million has been allocated to an existing growth fund that was established with $1.5 billion in 2024, bringing the firm's total available capital to $3.5 billion.

The fundraising comes two years after Index collected $2.3 billion across two funds, which included $800 million for its predecessor venture fund. Unlike several other venture firms that have significantly expanded their fund sizes, Index has kept its funds relatively moderate.

The firm's recent performance has been notable. Earlier this year, portfolio company Wiz was acquired by Alphabet in a $32 billion deal. Index provided Wiz's seed funding and later became its largest external shareholder with a 12% stake, valued at approximately $3.8 billion, according to Reuters. Index also backed Figma, which went public last year.

In the artificial intelligence sector, Index has invested in robotics company Physical Intelligence, inference platform Fireworks AI, and Anthropic. The investment in Anthropic was made when the AI model maker raised capital at a $183 billion valuation last September.
