Kaspars Viļumsons, head of auto and moto spare parts retailer Inter Cars Latvia, said in an interview with the Delfi news portal that the cost of maintaining a car could rise in the near future. According to him, changes are already visible in several product categories that matter to drivers.

Viļumsons said several factors have coincided at once in the tire, motor oil and spare parts markets, affecting the previous balance of prices and supply. One of these shifts concerns the budget tire segment, with the retailer's representative noting that cheap tires are gradually disappearing from the market.

A tense situation in the motor oil market

At the same time, the situation in the motor oil market is also becoming more strained, with Viļumsons describing it as a deepening crisis. This could affect both the availability and the prices drivers face when servicing their vehicles.

The Inter Cars Latvia manager explains that these shifts in the tire and motor oil segments are not random but stem from several factors acting on the market simultaneously. The specific causes and their impact on the industry are discussed in more detail in the interview Viļumsons gave to Delfi.

While the exact scale of any price increase is not yet known, the retailer representative's comments suggest that drivers may soon need to budget for higher costs when buying tires, motor oil and spare parts. The market situation continues to evolve, and industry representatives are watching it closely.
