Serie A champions Inter Milan are moving closer to a deal for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, with the transfer expected to be worth around 35m euros, or roughly £30m.

Back in June, Liverpool turned down a verbal offer of 25m euros from Inter, as the club placed a valuation of about £35m on the 25-year-old, who has just one year remaining on his current contract.

The current expectation is that a fee closer to £30m will be enough to secure an agreement between the two clubs. Reports from Italy suggest a verbal understanding has already been reached, though both sides say some details still need to be worked out.

Liverpool are willing to let Jones leave and are seeking a fee similar to the £30m Inter paid Tottenham for defender Djed Spence. Inter had previously shown interest in Jones in January, proposing a loan deal with an option to buy, but that approach was rejected by Liverpool at the time.

Since making his debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019, Jones has featured 228 times for Liverpool. Last season he made 49 appearances across all competitions but started just 18 Premier League matches, finding it difficult to hold down a regular midfield place under manager Arne Slot. Jones, who joined Liverpool's academy as a nine-year-old, is said to be interested in a new challenge abroad and would become the third English player to join Inter this summer, following John Stones and Spence.
