Singer and actress Selena Gomez, along with her mother, is facing a lawsuit filed by investors in Wondermind, the mental health startup they co-founded. The lawsuit was first reported by Forbes.

The plaintiffs say they invested nearly $1.2 million in the company and are accusing Gomez of securities fraud and breach of contract. They claim Wondermind failed to deliver on its commitments without informing investors, and that Gomez did not follow through on promises to market the startup.

Wondermind launched in 2021 with the goal of providing users with daily mental health resources. According to the lawsuit, investors remained unaware of the company's troubles until a September 2025 report by The Cut exposed them.

Serious allegations

The complaint states that Gomez signed a contract obligating her to certain performance commitments but then disregarded it. The plaintiffs allege that promised partnerships never existed, planned initiatives never materialized, and the app itself was never built. They say that for three years, while the company quietly collapsed, none of its founders, officers or directors informed investors of the situation.

The investors further allege that Gomez and Wondermind misrepresented the company's financial condition and overstated how involved Gomez actually was in running the business. The plaintiffs are seeking to recover their investments along with legal fees. Wondermind has not responded to a request for comment.
