iOS 27 beta 3 lets you customize Siri's speaking pace and expressiveness
Apple's latest developer beta of iOS 27 enables new voice controls for Siri's pace and expressivity, allowing users to adjust how fast and emotionally expressive the assistant sounds, as part of efforts to make Siri more natural.

Apple has released iOS 27 developer beta 3, activating previously promised voice controls for Siri's pace and expressivity that were labeled "Coming soon" in earlier betas.
The update is part of Apple's broader push to make Siri feel more natural and personal by rebuilding the assistant around generative AI. Similar to ChatGPT and other voice AI assistants, users can now customize how Siri sounds — not just by choosing between male or female voices, but by selecting among voices with different accents and using sliders to adjust speaking speed and emotional expressiveness.
ChatGPT's voice customization, which launched in December 2025, goes further by allowing adjustments to warmth and enthusiasm, as well as base style and tone (e.g., friendly, professional, candid, quirky). Apple's version lets beta testers slide controls for pace and expressivity, and Siri will demonstrate the changes by speaking sample phrases like "You have one new message."
The AI-powered Siri is deeply integrated into the updated iOS. Users can start conversations by speaking, swiping down from the Dynamic Island and typing, pressing the side button, or using the new standalone Siri app.
Other minor updates in beta 3 include an updated Reminders app icon. Some users on X report losing access to the new Siri after updating or seeing their phone re-index data, which is typically the first step in optimizing Siri AI for search.
