iPhone 18 Pro vs Pro Max: screen size and battery are the main differences
Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with display size and battery life standing out as the key distinctions between the two models. The Pro Max even outlasts the new foldable iPhone Duo in battery endurance.

While Apple's foldable iPhone Duo stole the spotlight at the "Surprise and Shine" event, new CEO John Ternus also used his debut presentation to introduce two additional devices: the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Display is the main differentiator
The two phones are largely similar, with screen size being the most notable difference. The iPhone 18 Pro Max comes with a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display, while the standard 18 Pro measures 6.3 inches. Both models run on the new A20 Pro chip, which Apple describes as its most powerful and efficient chip yet, improving performance in gaming and demanding AI tasks alike.
Camera capabilities are also nearly identical across both devices, featuring 48MP sensors, optical zoom, and variable aperture for manual control and improved low-light photography. Both phones are offered in the same four colors: Silver, Black, Glacier, and Burgundy.
Biggest battery upgrade in iPhone history
Apple claims the Pro Max delivers the largest battery life increase ever seen on an iPhone. The iPhone 18 Pro offers up to 36 hours of video playback, up from 33 hours on the 17 Pro. With a 60W USB-C cable, it can charge to 50 percent in just 15 minutes, while certified MagSafe wireless chargers achieve the same in 30 minutes.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max can reach up to 45 hours of video playback, a six-hour improvement over the 17 Pro Max, and just five minutes of wired charging adds an extra seven hours of playback. That endurance even surpasses the new foldable iPhone Duo, whose outer screen offers a maximum of 44 hours of playback. The two Pro models are separated by a $100 price difference.
