Ipswich Town investigates racist abuse targeting Fatawu
Ipswich Town has launched an investigation after footballer Abdul Fatawu was subjected to racist abuse online. The club has pledged its full support and is working with the Premier League on the matter.
Ipswich Town Football Club says it is investigating an incident of racist abuse directed at forward Abdul Fatawu on social media, describing the behaviour as completely unacceptable.
The abuse followed an incident on Saturday in which the 22-year-old Ghanaian winger was sent off during Ipswich's 1-0 league defeat to Everton.
The club confirmed it is investigating the matter alongside the Premier League and other relevant authorities, and said it would continue offering Fatawu its full support.

On X, many users condemned the abuse aimed at the player. Reach Tractors, a fan group representing Ipswich Town supporters who celebrate race, ethnicity and cultural heritage within the fanbase, called for those responsible to be held accountable, stating that racism has no place in football or society, and voiced its support for Fatawu.
About the player
Fatawu has made five appearances for Ipswich Town this season. He joined the club in July from Leicester City in a deal worth £20m, signing a five-year contract that could keep him there until 2031. Last season, playing for Leicester City, he scored nine goals in 44 appearances.
