The Iraqi government has officially announced that all pro-Iranian armed groups in the country must disarm by September 30 of this year. This move follows pressure from Washington on Baghdad to ensure order and limit the activities of these groups.

The announcement came ahead of the new Prime Minister Ali al Zaidi's planned visit to Washington. US officials have emphasized the need for stricter control over groups loyal to Iran.

Several of these pro-Iranian groups have previously attacked US military facilities in Iraq, particularly during the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The new ultimatum reflects Iraq's efforts to strengthen its sovereignty and reduce foreign influence.
