Iran's military command announced on Saturday that the Strait of Hormuz will be closed to shipping once again. The strait, a crucial passage for oil and gas transportation, had been blocked for most of the war, causing turmoil in global energy markets.

Iran had agreed to reopen the strait under a provisional agreement with the United States, and vessel traffic had begun to resume in recent days. However, the closure is now reinstated, reflecting escalating tensions in the region.

Further talks between the US and Iran, scheduled for Friday in Switzerland, were postponed indefinitely. The delay followed Israel's launch of attacks on Lebanon after four Israeli soldiers were killed in combat. Despite a ceasefire declared on Friday between Israel and Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed group, clashes and Israeli airstrikes continued in Lebanon on Saturday. The ceasefire, announced earlier, has not held as fighting persists.
