Iran attacks commercial vessel in Strait of Hormuz
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked a Singapore-flagged commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, damaging its bridge but causing no casualties.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacked a commercial vessel flying the Singapore flag in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, June 25. According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), a cargo ship was hit by an "unknown projectile" near the coast of Oman. A US official confirmed that the strike was carried out by an Iranian drone.
The attack damaged the ship's bridge, but no crew members were injured. Despite the attack, the vessel continued its journey. The US-approved route through the Strait of Hormuz runs along the Oman coast, while Iran demands the use of a northern route.
The Tehran-established Hormuz Strait Authority (PGSA) stated that any passage outside its designated routes will not be guaranteed safe passage or entitled to insurance coverage.
The incident comes after the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding on ending the war on June 18, which has already taken effect. The planned framework agreement includes the creation of a $300 billion investment fund for Iran's economy, and the US had planned to immediately allow Iran to sell oil and fuel as part of the deal.
