Iran war: Two US service members killed in Jordan, one missing in action
US personnel in Jordan died defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, marking the first direct US combat deaths from Iranian fire since the conflict began.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday that two US service members were killed and one is missing in action in Jordan while US and allied forces were defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. The deaths occurred on Friday, the first US fatalities directly caused by Iranian fire since the start of the war.
US airstrikes targeted key infrastructure in Iran, including bridges and a port surveillance tower, prompting Iranian officials for the first time to call on the public to reduce electricity usage, citing attacks on power infrastructure.
Tehran launched attacks on US military sites in the Gulf: in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar. The strikes damaged a desalination and electricity plant in Kuwait.
Iran reported that 38 people have been killed and more than 400 injured in US strikes since June 22, 2026.
