Iraola wants Mac Allister and Alisson to stay with Liverpool

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has stated that he wants to retain midfielder Alexis Mac Allister and goalkeeper Alisson, amid reports linking them with moves away from Anfield. Mac Allister, who joined the Reds in 2023, has two years remaining on a five-year contract, but talks over an extension have not yet begun. Speaking at a press conference in Chicago during Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States, Iraola said, "I think Alexis has been one of the best players at the club for the last few years, and he has had a very good World Cup, so it is normal that other clubs want our best players."

Alisson, meanwhile, has one year left on his contract and has been linked with a move to Juventus. Iraola, however, is pleased with the goalkeeping situation and values Alisson's experience. "Alisson is someone also in a changing room that has lost some references in terms of experience, I think he's someone that definitely will help us in this process of adaptation of the new signings, of the new players, the young players," the Spaniard explained. Iraola also addressed defensive depth concerns, particularly at right-back, as Conor Bradley continues to recover from a knee injury suffered in January. The Northern Ireland international is still months away from returning. "I think it's a situation that is tricky, because we trust Conor in the long term... but right now he is still, I would say, a little bit far from returning," Iraola said, noting that the team is looking for solutions to bolster defensive options.
