Ireland finish World Championships with two silver medals
Ireland's rowers won two silver medals on the final day of the World Championships in Amsterdam, finishing seventh in the overall medal table with one gold and two silvers.
Ireland closed out the World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam with two silver medals on the final day, contributing to a seventh-place finish in the overall medal table alongside one gold already secured earlier in the event.
In the men's double sculls, Cremen and Pazzaia followed up a third-place semi-final finish with a strong final performance to take silver, finishing behind the Dutch crew. Pazzaia, who was born in Switzerland to a Belfast-born mother, has grown into a key figure in Ireland's sculling squad. He came through Club de l'Aviron Nyon before joining Ireland's High Performance programme while studying Biological Sciences at Queen's University Belfast. His résumé already includes Under-23 world bronze in 2022 and the U23 world title in 2023, plus European Championship bronze and a World Cup bronze in the men's double sculls in 2025, both alongside Fintan McCarthy. Earlier in the championships, Pazzaia had voiced disappointment over the men's quad sculls crew, who were eliminated in the heats after finishing nine seconds slower than every other boat.
In the women's single sculls final, reigning world champion Murtagh finished second behind Henry, with Olympic champion Karolien Florijn of the Netherlands taking third.
The Netherlands topped the overall medal table on home water with four golds, three silvers and a bronze. Great Britain finished fifth with two golds, four silvers and two bronzes, helped by a silver from Hannah Scott and Fiona Gammond in the women's quad sculls.
