Iršu Manor's "Kļavas" welcomes over 300 visitors during Home Café Days
For the fifth year, the "Irši iedvesmo" association took part in the Middle Daugava Home Café Days, hosting 305 visitors at its "Kļavas" home café. Guests enjoyed traditional food, children's activities and an evening music programme.
The "Irši iedvesmo" association has for the fifth year taken part in the Middle Daugava Home Café Days, opening the doors of "Kļavas," the former manor manager's house at Irši manor. The event featured 24 home cafés in total, and this year "Kļavas" welcomed 305 visitors — slightly fewer than last year's 319.
Organisers thanked all guests and supporters, including the teams from the "Karlīnas" mini-zoo and the "Dzilnas" café, who came to relax at "Kļavas" after their own working day. Among the visitors were people celebrating name days, birthdays and wedding anniversaries, as well as families gathering for reunions that stretched from lunchtime through late evening. This year's most distant guests travelled from Brussels, Greece, England and the Netherlands, alongside neighbours from Meņģele, who are expected to host their own event on 12 and 13 September.
Food and activities
The traditional favourites remained the "baba" rolls and the manager's feast, the "Royal Nut," though tortillas also sold out quickly. This year's new addition — hot waffles and ice cream — proved especially popular. Local business "Dāvanu skapis" offered souvenirs, custom orders and archery with prizes, while the manor's granary-warehouse and the Hirschenhof garden were also open to visitors.
Children enjoyed a ball pit, large outdoor games, face painting and henna designs, which adults also tried. Visitors could also receive messages through associative cards in a dedicated corner. In the evening, musician Tenis Dimants entertained guests, introducing a range of instruments including the ukulele, kalimba and bells, letting visitors try them out and purchase their own.
