EstateMin, a legal technology startup founded in Ireland in 2024 and now headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, has raised €1 million in pre-Seed funding. Its AI-powered platform helps trust and estate law firms manage estate values, and the new capital is earmarked for winning customers in the United States.

Who invested

The round included NDRC, First Port Syndicate and Enterprise Ireland, which invested through its High Potential Startup programme. Angel investors Mike Hanrahan, Moira McKenna and Conor Stanley took part, together with other Irish angels.

Origin of the idea

Co-founder and CEO Isabella Hughes is a law graduate and former international boxer. While working as a legal executive, she manually retyped client information into legal documents. She teamed up with Oisín Dolphin, a machine learning expert with more than eight years of experience, who had encountered the same problem when going through probate after his father's death. They met at an NDRC founder weekend at Dogpatch Labs in 2024. John Noonan, who has over four years of experience in product and consumer success at legal technology company Clio, later joined as the third co-founder.

What the platform does

The platform digitises client intake, organises estate information, extracts data from documents and supports form preparation. Its AI Case Reviewer scans files to flag missing fields, inconsistencies or extra forms required before a submission is finalised. It integrates with existing case management systems, including Clio, and the company says it can be running in about two minutes.

EstateMin already helps firms manage more than €686 million ($770 million) in estate values across 777 matters. Law firms reportedly save five to seven hours per estate planning matter and five to ten hours per estate administration. The platform is active in all 50 US states, and the company reports 20% month-on-month revenue growth.

Choosing the US

The company first built for Irish law firms but saw slower adoption than expected. Hughes said it lacked the funds to try every market and had to choose between the UK and the riskier move into America. The response in New York was completely different, so the team chose the US. The funding will go toward US customer acquisition, go-to-market operations and growing the engineering and product teams. The company has already hired two software engineers and added US business development capacity.
