Como bolster squad for Champions League debut with Chelsea defender Chalobah
Italian club Como have signed Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah ahead of their Champions League debut. The 27-year-old England international arrives for €30 million plus performance-related bonuses.
"Como" have added Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah to their squad as they prepare to make their UEFA Champions League debut. The Italian club will pay €30 million for the 27-year-old England international, with an additional €6 million in performance-related bonuses. Chelsea will also receive a sell-on percentage if Chalobah is transferred in the future.
Manager Cesc Fabregas had been keen to bring the defender to Como for several months. Inter Milan, the reigning Italian champions, also showed an interest in Chalobah, but the move has been completed by Como.
Since coming under new ownership, Como have climbed rapidly through the Italian football pyramid. In 2019, they won the fourth tier; in 2021, they won the third tier; and in 2024, they finished second in Serie B. After reaching Serie A, the team took 10th place in their first season and fourth in their second, securing a spot in the Champions League.
Chalobah has made two appearances for England and was part of the squad at the 2026 World Cup. He joined Chelsea as a child and lifted the FA Cup, UEFA Conference League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup with the club. In the previous Premier League campaign, he made 34 appearances and scored three goals.
