Israel has handed over new intelligence to the United States that it claims points to a fresh Iranian plan to assassinate former President Donald Trump. The Wall Street Journal reported this, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Iran has openly vowed revenge for years over the killing of General Qassem Soleimani, one of the top commanders of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which took place during Trump's first term.
The Israeli embassy in Washington declined to comment, while Iran's mission to the UN did not respond to a request for clarification. The White House, when asked about the information, recalled Trump's own words in Turkey. On Wednesday, speaking to journalists, Trump said: "They want to eliminate the leader of the US – me… I am on every list. I saw this morning that I am on every list. So far, I think I've been a little lucky, but it may not last long."
The newspaper noted that during the funeral of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, participants chanted calls to kill Trump and displayed a banner reading "We will kill Trump." Earlier, in May 2026, White House official Sebastian Gorka stated that Trump had left a letter for Vice President JD Vance in case "something happens" to him.
