Lebanon's official National News Agency (NNA) reported that the Israeli airstrike hit an apartment in the Gobeiri district, located in the southern suburbs of Beirut, an area known as a Hezbollah stronghold.

Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had previously warned that Israel would attack southern Beirut if the Iran-backed Hezbollah group attacked Israeli communities in the north.

Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli military said three suspected Hezbollah drones had struck northern Israel. There were no injuries reported in that incident.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for several attacks on Israeli troops that had entered southern Lebanon, but did not announce any operations targeting northern Israel.
