Jaguar's Electric Type 01 Draws Interest From Over 50,000 People Worldwide
British carmaker Jaguar says its first fully electric model, the Type 01, has attracted more than 50,000 prospective buyers before production begins. About 80% of them have never been Jaguar customers.

British car brand Jaguar, which is moving to an all-electric lineup, has told journalists that its new Type 01 electric model has generated strong interest. More than 50,000 people around the world have expressed interest in the brand's first electric car, and roughly 80% of them have never been Jaguar customers. The manufacturer is responding to those who predict that the first fully electric Jaguar will fail.
The initial interest is promising, but the biggest challenge will be turning it into actual purchases. The company is committed to the full switch to electric cars and does not plan to return to combustion engines or plug-in hybrids. Whether the strategy pays off will become clear from future sales results.
Technical specifications
The Type 01 is a four-door electric grand tourer (GT) with three electric motors. Together they produce up to 1,030 hp and 1,365 Nm of torque. The all-wheel-drive car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.
The battery has a capacity of 118 kWh and offers a range of up to 720 km under the WLTP test cycle. The model's 850-volt electrical architecture supports fast charging at up to 350 kW. In favorable conditions, about 13 minutes of charging can add up to 321 km of range.
The car is 5.24 metres long and has a drag coefficient of 0.23. The cabin has four seats, and the driver has a 24-inch OLED display.
Production and price
Production of the model is planned to begin in 2027. The starting price in the United Kingdom is set at £130,000, or about €154,000.
