Jakovičs to Play Fifth Consecutive Season in Spain
Latvian basketball player Ingus Jakovičs has extended his contract with Spanish ACB club Palencia, marking his fifth consecutive season in Spain.

Latvian guard Ingus Jakovičs remains loyal to Spanish club "Palencia", having signed a new deal for the upcoming season. This will be his fifth consecutive year playing in Spain. Previously, he spent three seasons with "Leyma Coruna", helping the team earn promotion from the second division to the ACB and playing one season in the top flight.
Last season, Jakovičs played in all 38 games for Palencia, averaging 11.9 points per game (second best on the team) along with 3.0 assists. He shot 37.7% from three-point range.
In his career, Jakovičs has won the Latvian championship twice: in 2015 with "VEF Rīga" and in 2018 with "Ventspils". In 2019, he also won the inaugural Latvian-Estonian Basketball League title with Ventspils. Abroad, the Madona native has played in Italy's Serie A ("Varese"), Ukraine (Kyiv "Budivelnyk"), and France ("Limoges").
Jakovičs is one of several Latvian players currently in Spain. In the ACB league, Rodions Kurucs ("Baskonia") and Mārcis Šteinbergs ("Murcia") are active, while in the Primera FEB, Toms Leimanis ("Ourense") and Kārlis Šiliņš ("Leyma Coruna") are competing.
