Jānis Timma's mother releases voice message she received from Sedokova on his birthday

Ausma Timma, mother of late Latvian basketball player Jānis Timma, has published a voice message she received from his ex-wife, singer Anna Sedokova, on what would have been his birthday. She says she felt compelled to share it after his memory was, in her view, mocked.

Ausma Timma, mother of Latvian basketball player Jānis Timma, has posted an emotional message on Instagram expressing grief over her son's death and frustration over what she describes as mockery of his memory. Attached to the post is a voice message she says she received from singer Anna Sedokova, Timma's former wife.

According to Ausma Timma, the message arrived on the morning of what would have been her son's birthday. She writes that for a brief moment the message seemed sincere, but that Sedokova quickly deleted it and instead published a post describing the difficulties of her relationship with a man referred to as Hektors. Timma says she initially did not want to make the voice message public, but changed her mind after private correspondence between Sedokova and her son surfaced publicly. She describes the situation as hypocrisy and calls it a game.

In the voice message itself, Sedokova is heard, nearly in tears, wishing Timma a happy birthday in a message addressed to his mother. Sedokova states that she never did anything bad to Timma and adds that she considers Ausma Timma the only person with whom she can share her pain. She expresses hope that the mother, too, is hurting on that day and suggests they endure the pain together.

Jānis Timma and Anna Sedokova began their relationship in 2019 and married in September 2020. In autumn 2024, the singer announced their divorce, and on 17 December of that year the basketball player was found dead.
