In a conversation with Latvijas Radio 3 "Klasika", composer Jānis Lūsēns shares his thoughts on life and the role of everyday discoveries. He says a person should live with the belief that every day offers a chance to learn something new — whether it is music, a new acquaintance, or even an ordinary moment, such as someone accidentally stepping on your foot on a tram and striking up a conversation. According to Lūsēns, what truly matters is drawing some experience from every day lived.

Bond with Liepāja

The composer also reveals how important his native city of Liepāja remains to him, both personally and in his creative work.

Cultural venue at Ozolu school

Lūsēns speaks about the cultural venue he created at Ozolu school, which he is not ready to give up, underlining its significance for his activities.

Enthusiasm behind rural culture

Discussing cultural life outside major cities, the composer notes that quality cultural events in Latvia's rural areas still largely depend on the enthusiasm of individual people rather than on stable, systemic support.
