Over the past 24 hours, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received a total of 96 calls, according to the service. Of these, 29 were related to firefighting, while 49 were classified as false alarms.

Notably, 24 of these false alarms occurred during Midsummer night, when residents noticed large smoke or flames from bonfires. People suspected a fire had broken out, but arriving firefighters found that the bonfires were being burned in a controlled manner and posed no danger.

However, in two cases, firefighters had to extinguish unattended bonfires. VUGD reminds that any bonfire must be lit responsibly, following safety rules, and should never be left unsupervised.
