Japan Seeks Unified G7 Response to China’s Trade Policy Pressure
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi urges G7 countries to develop a coordinated response to Beijing's use of export restrictions as a geopolitical weapon.

During the G7 summit, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has highlighted the need for a united stance against China's aggressive trade policies. She emphasized that Beijing increasingly employs export restrictions to exert geopolitical influence, requiring a coordinated approach from developed nations.
Takaichi wants the G7 to devise a joint strategic plan to reduce dependency on Chinese supplies and bolster members' economic security. This issue has gained urgency as China tends to limit exports of critical goods like rare earth metals and semiconductors.
Her call comes as G7 members are already exploring ways to reduce reliance on Chinese trade and technology. Japan's initiative could push for a stronger collective position, including potential coordinated measures against China's trade practices.
