Since taking office, the new head of the Ministry of Interior, Janis Dombrava, has added several individuals to the so-called blacklist – the list of foreigners prohibited from entering Latvia, the ministry informed LETA news agency.

Furthermore, the minister has terminated memorandums of cooperation signed by his predecessors with two non-governmental organizations: “I Want to Help Refugees” and “Network of Cooperation of Women's Non-Governmental Organizations of Latvia.” He announced these decisions on Twitter.

These moves signal a potential shift in the ministry's approach to migration and relations with NGOs. While specific reasons for the blacklist additions and memorandum cancellations have not been disclosed, Dombrava has previously expressed a firm stance against illegal immigration.
