Lexus has introduced the all-new eighth-generation ES, bringing significant changes including the model's first-ever fully electric powertrains.

Design and dimensions

The new ES adopts a sleeker fastback-style body, resembling a liftback rather than a traditional sedan. It has grown considerably: length reaches 5.14 meters (up 16.5 cm), width 1.92 m, and wheelbase 2.95 m. The front grille is gone, replaced by slim L-shaped headlights and a cleaner design language. At the rear, a full-width LED light bar incorporates an illuminated Lexus logo.

Interior and features

Inside, the Tazuna concept places controls for easy visibility. Some buttons are hidden until the car is started and function as touch panels with haptic feedback. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster sits ahead of the driver, complemented by a 14-inch infotainment screen. Bamboo trim, synthetic leather, and ambient lighting enhance the premium feel. Lexus improved door seals and acoustic glass for a quieter cabin. Rear seats recline, and a footrest is available for the passenger behind the front seat. The audio system is Mark Levinson with 12 or 17 speakers.

Powertrain options

Three versions will be offered. The ES300h hybrid combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (196 hp) with an e-CVT transmission; it is available with front- or all-wheel drive. Fuel consumption is 4.8 l/100 km.

The electric ES350e (front-wheel drive) produces 224 hp from a 77 kWh battery, with a WLTP range of 530 km and 0-100 km/h in 8.0 seconds. The ES500e (all-wheel drive) delivers 343 hp from a 75 kWh battery, same range, and a 0-100 time of 5.5 seconds. Both EVs support 150 kW DC fast charging, reaching 10-80% in about 30 minutes. Battery preheating is included for cold climates.

Pricing and availability

The new Lexus ES will reach Europe in summer 2026. Prices in Latvia: ES300h from €58,500, ES350e from €54,450, and ES500e from €65,700. The base price (electric version) is approximately €54,500.

Pros and cons

Pros: good handling, dynamic driving, competitive pricing, ergonomic interior. Cons: rearview camera resolution, inconvenient trunk access.
