On Friday evening, flooding at the New Riga Theatre triggered the fire alarm, forcing staff to evacuate the audience and cancel three scheduled performances.

An emergency unfolded at the New Riga Theatre on Friday evening when its premises were flooded, setting off the building's fire alarm system. The incident was confirmed by Inga Liepiņa, the theatre's advertising and public relations specialist.
For safety reasons, theatre staff decided to evacuate all audience members present in the building. As a result of the flooding, three performances that had been scheduled for that evening's program were cancelled.
Further details about the cause of the flooding, the extent of any damage, and when the theatre will resume normal operations have not yet been released.
