Xiaomi's new Redmi phone can last up to three days on a charge
Xiaomi's new Redmi Note 17 Pro Max features a record 9,210mAh battery, the largest the company has fitted in any phone sold in Europe. The device will launch in several regions, but not the US.

Xiaomi has unveiled a new smartphone, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, built around an unusually large battery. The European version houses a dual-cell 9,210mAh battery, while some other markets get an even bigger single-cell 10,000mAh version. Both use silicon-carbon technology with a high 16 percent silicon content, giving them greater energy density than conventional batteries. This has allowed Xiaomi to pack the large battery into a body roughly the same size as an iPhone 17 Pro Max, while remaining 8 grams lighter and slightly thinner.
Long battery life
According to Xiaomi, the phone can deliver up to three days of use on a single charge, or up to 37 hours of continuous video playback. The company says the battery will retain 80 percent of its original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, roughly equivalent to six years of use. With 100W wired charging, the phone can reach a full charge in just over an hour, while 20 minutes of charging provides about a day's worth of power.
Other specifications
The device runs Android 16, with Xiaomi promising a six-year "like-new" software experience, though it has not confirmed how many Android version updates it will receive. It features a 6.83-inch OLED display protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, a basic Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, up to 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and an IP69K rating. The cameras are more modest: a 50-megapixel main sensor that is relatively small, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will go on sale in Europe, Australia, Latin America, and other global markets, but not in the US, priced at the local equivalent of $499. It tops a four-model Redmi Note 17 lineup that all share large batteries — even the entry-level $249, 4G-only Note 17 has a 7,700mAh battery paired with a 6.99-inch OLED screen.
